Leaving Makkah is a different kind of planning from arriving. An arrival can absorb a delay; a departure works to a deadline, and on this route the deadline usually has one more thing in front of it — the farewell Tawaf.
Most pilgrims perform a farewell Tawaf as the last thing they do before leaving Makkah. Whether it is obligatory after Umrah is a point on which scholars differ, and your group leader will advise you; after Hajj it is a different matter. Either way, if you intend to perform it, it has to sit inside your timing rather than be squeezed in afterwards — and the Haram is at its busiest around each Salah, which is exactly when people tend to plan it.
Working backwards from your flight, allow for:
- Your farewell Tawaf, if you are performing one, plus the walk back to the hotel
- Checking out and getting your luggage down to the vehicle
